2nd week of the 6th six weeks

This week we begin our Science STAAR Review.  We will be reexamining the four categories of middle school science TEKS.
Matter and Energy
Force and Motion
Organisms and the Environment
Earth and Space

Not only will we review the 8th grade TEKS that we studied this year, but we will refresh our understanding of the 7th and 6th grade tested TEKS so that we can be confident of our performance on this year's STAAR exam.

Here are some useful STAAR review links to follow.  Remember, the more self study you do, the better prepared you will be.

Week 3 of 5th six weeks 3/6-3/10

This week we begin a unit on the atom and the periodic table.  All matter is made up of tiny particles we call atoms.  Atoms themselves are made up of even smaller subatomic particles which we will learn about during our atoms unit.

Please watch the linked you tube videos for some relevant background information about the history of atomic theory.

Week 1 of 5th six weeks 2/20-1/24

This week we begin a unit on force and motion.  We will demonstrate and calculate how unbalanced forces change the speed or direction of an object's motion, and differentiate between speed, velocity, and acceleration.

Week 6 of 4th six weeks 2/13-1/17

This is test week.  Be sure to be prepared for our six weeks exam on Friday 2/17/17.  The exam will cover the topics of ocean currents, weather maps, ecosystem relationships, competition among organisms, and the affect of environmental changes on traits.

Please follow this link for a quick review before your exam on Friday. Copy and paste this code 002624 to complete the review.

Week 5 of 4th six weeks 2/6-1/10

This week we will be learning about short and long-term environmental changes and how they affect organisms and their traits in subsequent generations.

Week 3 of 4th six weeks 1/23-1/27

This week we begin a new unit of study on the interdependence among living systems and the environment.  Living things rely on other living things in order to survive.  Also, species depend on other species for survival.
Many relationships exist in nature.  Predator/prey, producer/consumer, parasite/ host that occur in food webs within marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystems.
